A WORD OF CAUTION: When loading any muzzleloading rifle or shotgun, grip the ramrod near the muzzle and push or tap the ball down the bore in stages. To grip the ramrod at the end and attempt to seat the ball in one motion invites rod breakage....the sharp broken end of the rod can pierce the hand.

 

Note: Any wood rod will last longer with the periodic treatment of linseed oil, stock finish or wax.

This handy tool will make easy work of removing ramrods stuck in the bore during cleaning, ball pulling, etc. Place tool over the stuck ramrod and lift. Fits rods up to 1/2" diameter. The leather padded, grooved jaws lock firmly in place. The more you pull the tighter they grip. Greatly increases effective force applied without damage to the rod.

This pistol loader has a 1-3/4" diameter wood ball handle on a selected straight grain hickory rod, 10-3/4" long. The wood ball also has a brass short starter. The jag is epoxied and cross pinned to the hickory rod. The jag has a spherically cupped end and is provided with an 10 x 32 thread to accept standard accessories. .45 or .50 caliber
